PAINTED PINTS POST-EVENT
Sold out of decorative glasses, Allied Arts gained almost $4,000 for its community arts programs
Yakimainiacs packed The G-Spot Bar at Gasperetti's Restaurant Wednesday night August 29th for the first ever Allied Arts Painted Pints Party, sponsored by Clark Custom Remodeling and Gasperetti's Restaurant. Pint glasses, lined up on shelves in the windows at the G-Spot, shimmered in the late afternoon sun like gems in a jeweler's case. By 4:45, the urgency and anticipation in the room was palpable--and "glass lust" was apparent on the faces of those in the snaking line. Sales were fast & furious--Allied Arts was down to only 19 glasses (out of almost 180) by 5:45pm! By 7:30pm the glasses, priced at $20 each, had sold out, raising close to $4,000 for Allied Arts programs.
"It was incredible to see the enthusiasm for these affordable one-of-a-kind pieces! Besides funds raised for arts programs like the art gallery, poetry events, art classes and ArtsVan, we believe that this type of event develops new interest in local artists," said Elizabeth Herres Miller, executive director at Allied Arts.
Designs ranged from whimsical to wild, and clever to classic. Each glass also offered the chance to win items donated by Starbucks, treats from the bar (like those world famous onion rings) donated by Gasperetti's, or bottles of wine donated by Hogue Cellars. Andrea Skinner of Yakima won a prize basket created by Gasperetti's and Allied Arts worth over $200. Thanks to all who attended!
