Home Brewing
For the first time ever, local homebrewers will be getting in on the Fresh Hop Ale competitive action. The brews were judged Saturday, September 29, 2007, and we will reveal the top 3 winners on Saturday night at the festival. You'll also be able to experience an on-site homebrewing demo!
According to the American Homebrewers Association, there are currently 1.2 million home brewers in the country, and growing. These passionate individuals are in pursuit of superior aroma, color, body and flavor, and we'll award the most successful of the bunch!
Almost 14 local Fresh Hop Ale homebrews were submitted to judges during a blind judging session. These home-brewers are competing to win the honor of "The Best Hombrewed Fresh Hop Ale 2007." Judges were selected from those who purchased VIP Table tickets.
Criteria for the brews was that each beer MUST contain a majority of 2007 hops that have NOT been kiln dried. Participating brewers will get the results of their score sheets after the festival.
We are planning to expand the homebrewing component of the Fresh Hop Ale Festival in 2008. Please contact us if you'd like info on how to enter a homebrewed Fresh Hop Ale in 2008.
